Mesothelioma Symptoms

Mesothelioma is that type of cancer that is primarily caused by someone exposing him or herself to types of material i.e Asbestos, ( material once used in constructing houses).

Mesothelioma Symptoms don"t  appear instantaneously after it has been exposed to Asbestos, taking about 15to 60 years after the initial exposure to develop. Mesothelioma is  a  slow progressing disease that usually strikes middle age to senior adults long after their exposure to asbestos.

Mesothelioma Symptoms:

Symptoms of mesothelioma can vary from one person to the other.
Its types(i.e Pericardia, pleural and peritoneal) Affects the type of symptom experienced by the person.

So lets talk about pleural mesothelioma.
As it name implies, pleural mesothelioma affects the plural i.e lining of the lungs.

SYMPTOMS:

1) BREATH SHORTNESS
2)CHEST PAIN
3)CONTINOUS AND PERSISTENT COUGHING
4)WHEEZING

In condition where fluid starts accumulating ouside the lungs,(PLEURAL EFFUSION) Chest X-rays may reveal some effusion.

Now let go on to the second type
PERITONEAL MESOTHELIOMA: It affects the peritoneum (lining of the abdomen)

SYMPTOMS:
1)Nausea
2)Swelling of The Abdomen
3)Abdominal Mass
4)Abdominal pain

PERIDICEAL MESOTHELIOMA:

It affects the pericadium(The membrane around the heart)
NOTE:This symptom is not so common as the others infact it is the least common.

SYMPTOMS:

1)Shortness Of Breath
2)Irrugular Breathing.
3)Some Fatigue

So What Should You Do If You Feel You Have The Symptoms of Mesothelioma?

In most cases it advisable to consult your physician if had been exposed to asbestos and you think you are suffering from the Disease.
The symptoms of mesothelioma looks very similar to that of other illnesses hence it often Wrongly diagnosed, So make sure you consult your physician early enough.
Nevertheless, if your doctor or physician knows of  your exposure and symptoms, it may help for correct diagnosis.
